How It Works

Math at Center Stage

Math Rocks teaches skills through a band-on-tour experience. From calculating ticket sales to tracking Spotify streams, each activity helps students in grades 5-8 strengthen foundational math skills.

Activities focus on pencil-to-paper problem solving and game play that gets students talking, reasoning and working through the math together.

Give Kids a Break From Screens

Activities begin with a lesson followed by differentiated small-group work that engages students at every level, from those catching up to those ready for a challenge. Serves groups of 4 students, a proven effective size for high-dosage tutoring.

  • 13 lessons that solidify key math skills essential to cumulative learning.
  • Activities motivate students by showing real-life relevance of order of operations, long division and factoring.
  • Gives students math fluency and “trilingual skills” in fractions, decimals and percents.
  • Optimal rollout first 2 weeks of the school year in middle school.
  • Also effective as a 5th grade finale and in summer school.

The Kit

Bedtime Math, a 501(c)(3) foundation, makes Math Rocks affordable by subsidizing the cost of each kit, which is only available to public schools and accredited private schools in the US.

Each kit includes:

  • Hands-on materials, activity sheets and exit tickets for 13 lessons.
  • Printed teacher guides and digital display slides.
  • Digital access to all teacher and student materials.

Schools make a cost-share contribution of $150 for the first kit for 4 students, plus shipping. Additional teacher binders are $25 each, and additional sets of materials for 4 students are $100 each.

Professional development is also available and strongly recommended.
