Math at Center Stage
Math Rocks teaches skills through a band-on-tour experience. From calculating ticket sales to tracking Spotify streams to teach place value and fractions, each activity uses music-inspired challenges to help middle schoolers strengthen foundational math skills in ways that feel relevant, collaborative and fun.
How It Works
Activities serve groups of 4 students, a proven effective size for high-dosage tutoring.
- Ten lessons that solidify upper elementary math skills essential to cumulative learning
- Activities motivate students by showing the real-life relevance of PEMDAS, long division and factoring
- Gives students math fluency and “trilingual skills” in fractions, decimals and percents
- Optimal rollout first 2-3 weeks of the school year to unleash learning
- Also works during flex time, study hall, resource room or school breaks
The Kit
As part of our nonprofit mission, Bedtime Math subsidizes the cost of Math Rocks. We ask schools to make a cost-sharing contribution of $50 per kit. That’s just $1.25 per student per activity.
Each kit includes:
- Hands-on materials for 10 activities plus a math facts warm-up exercise
- Discussion prompts for small-group math talk
- Digital teacher guides
- Professional development (optional)
